Over 20 items re-created for Mackintosh at the Willow
Our Manufactured Joinery team has reached completion on the production of over 20 bespoke items as part of the restoration of the iconic Willow Tea Rooms Building on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, to create Mackintosh at the Willow.
Within the tea rooms, our Manufactured Joinery team re-created items including bench seating, a servery, baldacchino, ceiling grid, screens and wall linings. Bench seating, wall linings, doors and a fireplace were also manufactured for the billiard room. The majority of the items were produced utilising veneered oak.
Display cases, tiered seating and storage units were manufactured and are now housed within the exhibition and store space.
Many of the items were recreated using black and white photographs to replicate the original Mackintosh designed furniture.
Mackintosh at the Willow Tea Rooms, visitors centre, exhibition, learning and education suite, retail and conference facilities are now open to the public.
Gerry Cummins, Director, Manufactured Joinery said “It has been an honour to be involved in such an iconic project within Glasgow and we hope everyone who visits Glasgow can experience Mackintosh at the Willow and enjoy the new tea rooms, exhibition and store.”
