Manufactured Joinery get involved in Glasgow Apprenticeship Event
We recently participated in the 2018 Glasgow Traditional Building Forum Apprenticeship Event, which took place outside the original Willow Tea Rooms Building on Sauchiehall Street for which we are currently manufacturing £480k of bespoke joinery as part of the building’s restoration.
Our Manufactured Joinery Manager, delivered workshops on the furniture we are manufacturing as part of the restoration, the materials used and the processes used to replicate original items. The items we are manufacturing include bespoke seating, decorative screens, fireplaces and a baldacchino which are all being produced utilising traditional materials.
The event organised in partnership with with Glasgow City Heritage Trust, Built Environment Forum Scotland, City of Glasgow College, The Willow Tearooms Trust, and West College Scotland, was open to school pupils from S1 upwards, and provided taster workshops in stone carving, roof slating, lead dressing, joinery and painting and decorating. The pupils also got the opportunity to take part in stencilling workshops which were delivered by The Willow Tea Rooms Trust.
